Welcome to this year’s Word on the Street.
Bookings open 10am 1st October
Last year – for obvious reasons – we were a virtual festival, with guests and audiences Zooming in from all parts of the globe to make it one of our most successful, well-attended festivals ever. For 2021, our strategy is to think of the festival like a good whisky – blended. We have in-person sessions at local venues, online Zoom sessions and Facebook live-streamed events.
What is in this intoxicating blend, you ask? It starts with storytelling – for children and adults — with some drumming thrown in. We have the return of our popular comedy night, featuring the best in Highland talent. We also have the creator of River City, Stephen Greenhorn, and one of the stars of Scot Squad, Manjot Sumal. Add to that the return of Alan Bissett, a Poetry Jukebox with stand-up performer Rob Gee, a talk with a BAFTA award-winning animator, plus further talks, Dingwall walks and online music from Brian Ó hEadhra & Fionnag NicChoinnich. We invite you to join us and drink deep from this year’s fine blend of Word on the Street!
Word on the Street is supported by the Highland Council and organised under the banner of Dingwall Players by these volunteers: Nick Fearne, Bill Anderson (Highflight Bookshop), Phil Baarda, Sherry Morris, Donna Macrae, Simon Berry
It is our goal to ensure the Dingwall Word on the Street Festival is as inclusive and user-friendly as possible. Live, in-person events will be held in a Covid-safe manner according to current guidelines.
