WELCOME BACK!
In 2020 during the height of the pandemic Word on the Street was an online event. 2021 saw the return of a few in person events. Last year we took a break in order to review and refresh the festival – the most significant change being a move to May. It was also felt that the event needed a physical focus and as a result Saturday will see a day long programme in a central, much loved venue, namely Dingwall Town Hall. The Town Hall will host exhibitions, books, crafts, music, drama, Gaelic and an array of typewriters. As well as the Town Hall programme there will be events around the town in the Ross-shire Club, Highflight Bookshop and on the street. Most events are free or ‘Pay What You Want’. We hope to see you there! Word on the Street is supported by Highland Council through the Dingwall & Seaforth Ward Discretionary Fund. The event is organised under the banner of Dingwall Players by a volunteer group, namely: Nick Fearne, Bill Anderson (Highflight Bookshop), Phil Baarda, Sherry Morris, Donna Macrae, Simon Berry.

DINGWALL PLAYERS
Present EVERY BRILLIANT THING By DUNCAN MACMILLAN with Johnny Donahoe You’re seven years old. Mum’s in hospital. Dad say she’s ‘done something stupid’. She finds it hard to be happy. You start a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything worth living for. You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling. In Every Brilliant Thing, a young girl attempts to ease her mother's depression by creating a list of all the best things in the world. Everything worth living for. Through adulthood, as the list grows, she learns the deep significance it has on her own life. Every Brilliant Thing is a hilarious and heart-wrenching play about depression and the lengths we will go for those we love. |
